Visit of Villa Necchi Campiglio, Milan

Visit of Villa Necchi Campiglio, Milan

During a weekend trip to Milan and Bergamo in September, I finally had the chance to visit Villa Necchi Campiglio, an architectural gem that’s been on my to-see list for a while. Built from 1932 to 1935, this single-family home was designed by Piero Portaluppi. It’s a solid example of Italian Rationalism, with rooms that are both large and filled with natural light, and a wealth of intricate details showcasing the craftsmanship involved.

You might recognize the house from a couple of movies. It’s featured in both Luca Guadagnino’s I Am Love and Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. These days, the villa serves as a museum and is open for public visits.

Testing the iPhone 16 Pro camera capability

The visit to the house was also my first opportunity to try the then-new iPhone 16 Pro and its new Camera Control feature. There are plenty of in-depth reviews* out there, so I’ll keep my conclusions on the iPhone 16 Pro’s new features quick and simple.

One feature I appreciate is the quick access provided by the dedicated button. However, I found that it requires a bit too much force to trigger. Ideally, it would function like an auto-focus trigger, similar to a button on a full-fledged camera. I heard that this feature will come later this year though.

At first, I was intrigued by the novelty of using this button for various functions, like zooming in. But, this novelty wore off rather quickly. Despite this, I still consider it a worthwhile addition to the device’s features. Overall, it adds to the convenience and enhances the user experience, even if there’s room for improvement.

I also published this selection to try out the new Series feature of Glass.photo. You can have a look here.

Stay tuned for more posts on my autumn vacations and getaways soon.
